March 30, 2016
Always Be Open. Always Be Seeking. Always Be Learning.
Describe your role at CashStar.
As a front-end engineer working on the Solution Delivery team, I am responsible for styling our client’s CashStar sites to match their branding and corporate websites seamlessly. I also handle requests for copy updates, redesigns, language translations, and promotional campaign setups. On a broader note, I also assist in product enhancements and brainstorming future solutions for various CashStar products and platforms.
How did you come to work at CashStar?
A friend of mine was working here as an engineer and he recommended I apply for a frontend opening that was posted at the time. I was working at a smaller software company as a graphic and web designer but had a background in development. He spoke so highly of the company and culture that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see what CashStar was all about.
What’s your favorite thing about working at CashStar?
The people, for sure. The company culture is so lively and positive and there’s a feeling of everyone really enjoying what they do. That’s not something that can be artificially manufactured or forced onto a company.
What excites you most about working in the gift card ecommerce space?
I’m excited about how forward-thinking this industry is and CashStar is a very innovative leader in the field. We usually work with, instead of just for, our clients to solve problems and engineer solutions that drive us forward; we are creating a better industry together.
What do you like about your chosen profession?
I love how much of web development involves creative problem solving, which encourages not just solutions but a deep understanding of the problem and the path to a more sustainable solution. It’s a world that is constantly in flux and encourages us to be open minded and always seeking and learning new ways of doing our work.
What are you up to when you are not at CashStar?
Outside of work I try to spend as much time as possible outdoors. I love hiking and am currently peak bagging the New Hampshire 4000 footers (12 down…36 to go) meaning a lot of early weekend mornings hauling up to the White Mountains for the day. Quiet days in my apartment are few and far between but usually spent reading, writing, and playing violin.
